What do you say on Hanukkah?
"Happy Hanukkah" is always right. Many people also say "Chag sameach" (Hebrew for "happy holiday") or "Hag Hanukkah sameach". You'll see the name spelled both Hanukkah and Chanukah; both are correct.
Hanukkah remembers the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem. Families light one more candle on the menorah (also called a hanukkiah) each night, eat foods fried in oil such as latkes and sufganiyot, and play dreidel.
